Cleaning a Hair
Replacement Unit 101
When you say the
word shampoo to anybody, they get the mental image of massaging
shampoo into his/her hair and scalp. That method is meant to
loosen scalp flakes and stuff that a hair replacement unit does
not have. Cleaning 101 is a simple method of delivering a
mild detergent to emulsify any oils, to soften and wash away any
accumulated hair spray and will thoroughly clean the piece while
doing no damage.
Cold water is the
key. Cold water does not loosen human hair knots especially
when it is a single hair knotting.
Chemical cleaners do
not remove hair spray. It is meant to remove oils only.
Hair spray is water soluble. It is meant for use by persons
who shampoo their hair with water and shampoo.
For people wearing
permanent wear units, cold water may not be comfortable, but try
to get as cool as possible for the units sake.

|
| 1.
Place the unit on a styrofoam 'block'. |
2.
With a large took comb, gently comb through the unit to
remove any mats or tangles. |
|
|

|

|
| 3.
Holding the part side secure, allow cold tap water to soak
the unit completely through. |
4.
Spray a liberal amount of a diluted mixture of shampoo and
water onto the unit. A very thin, watery mix does
best. |
|
|

|

|
| 5.
Rinse thoroughly. Spray shampoo mixture 3 times
total, rinsing completely each time. |
6.
Vigorously shake the unit to remove excess water and leave
on the 'block' to dry overnight. |
|
| 7.
The less rough handling a hair replacements unit gets, the
longer it will last. This gentle, time tested method
is far superior to harsh chemical cleaners which usually
don't remove hair spray. Do not come while wet.
When finally dry, put the unit on and comb and style as
usual.
Final
Tip!
Apply Hair Conditioner directly on the unit wait for fifteen minutes , then rinse thoroughly. This will restore the PH balance of the unit.
